This stretch of Back Creek - Potomac Tributary in Virginia is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This river system has a few
    good paddling sections and the Route 704 bridge to Route 50 section is one of them. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find
a large number of good spots. The natural beauty of Frederick County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
