The Route 611 to Craig Creek section of Barbours Creek in Virginia is 7 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. The starting point is not too far from Roanoke, as you can see on the road map further down. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average,     so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. Barbours Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Route 611 to Craig Creek section is the only one. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: All through the summertime highs here at Barbours Creek reach the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Barbours Creek tend to be in the 20's. The Fenwick Nature Trail is a fine hiking trail   near Barbours Creek. Barbours Creek is a good location of normal rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest of the months is February.
