The natural beauty of Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. The put-in location is a short drive from Bristol, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Lebanon to Clinch River section of Big Cedar Creek is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. If you'll be staying
in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The Lebanon to Clinch River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Big Cedar Creek. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily
run it on an afternoon. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: Don't leave Big Cedar Creek without first paying a visit to Big Falls, and Big Cedar Creek is close to Glade Hollow which is beyond doubt worth taking a look at. Big Cedar Creek is a reasonably wet place usually with a large amount of rain; during the month of July you get the most rain around here while February
is generally the driest month. Pinnacle is something you shouldn't miss if you're here at Big Cedar Creek. At Big Cedar Creek all through the warm months highs are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. During the winter highs are usually in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Big Cedar Creek.
