Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The Briery Branch Dam to North River section of Briery Branch in Virginia is 10.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you're coming from Harrisonburg it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further
down the page. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. This is the only paddling section along Briery Branch. The campgrounds here at Briery Branch are pretty good. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing
to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The wonderful Virginia scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile.

The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Briery Branch.
