The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Lynchburg, as you can see on the road map further down. The Forks of Buffalo to Amherst section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy.
