The scenic beauty of Amherst County and the water flowing gracefully down Buffalo River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Amherst to Tye River stretch of Buffalo River is 13 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch has enough     mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Briefly about the general area: Through the months of summer at Buffalo River highs are generally in the 80's, and the overnight is a tad chillier of course, ordinarily in the 60's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's; night lows through the winter for Buffalo River tend to be in the 20's. The   high level of rainfall makes Buffalo River a reasonably wet spot; the month with most of the rain is October; the driest of the months is January.
