The Effinger to Buffalo Forge section of Buffalo Creek is 12.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains
river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some
kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camp stove. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
