The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Lynchburg, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Effinger to Buffalo Forge section of Buffalo Creek is 12.5 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you've been
whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back
for more. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the cool fresh water will make you feel great.

one that rains the most, and December is the month with the least moisture. Nearby Spring Valley is a good place to go if you're at Buffalo Creek. For the duration of the summertime at Buffalo Creek highs are commonly in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer
temperatures dip down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Buffalo Creek tend to be in the 10's.
