Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The beautiful scenery of Rockbridge County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead

The Effinger to Buffalo Forge stretch of Buffalo Creek is 12.5 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. There's camping available near Buffalo Creek.
