The nature scenery of Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting     or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Rt. 678 to Cowpasture River section is one of them. This section of Bullpasture River in Highland\Bath County is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+ section of whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: Summer brings highs in the 80's to Bullpasture River. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Bullpasture River plunge into the 10's. Bullpasture Gorge is next to Bullpasture River and is certainly a tremendous spot to   explore, and you can have a glorious hiking adventure along the Hupman Valley Trail. If you're here at Bullpasture River, checking out Byrd Point is a must, and hiking along the Marshall Draft Trail is great fun. The high level of precipitation makes Bullpasture River a quite wet location; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is December.
