The starting location is a short drive from Staunton-Waynesboro, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Calfpasture River attract people from near and far. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular     destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camp stove. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Briefly about the general area: Reubens Draft is a splendid place to visit next to Calfpasture River, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Elliott Knob Trail.
