If you're coming from Staunton-Waynesboro it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Route 687 to Goshen section of Calfpasture River in Augusta/Rockbridge County is 11.5 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are sure to
keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Calfpasture River are pretty good. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Route 687 to Goshen section is just one of them.
The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often easier than in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots.

highs are regularly in the 80's, and the night is fairly cooler of course, frequently in the 50's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while Calfpasture River overnight low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. Going for a hike on the Burke Trail is always a glorious adventure.
