You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up     quick. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. This stretch of Catawba Creek in Virginia is 12 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. This is the only paddling section along Catawba Creek.
