CLASS I-II 20 miles
Very nice, relaxing run when the water is up. Also, good fishing for bluegill and bass. Says Guy
The Route 55 to Route 11 section of Cedar Creek in Virginia is 20 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a
great plus for this river. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack
your camping stuff. Lodging is available near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Winchester, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Route 55 to Route 11 section is one of them.
