Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. The nature scenery of Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Cedar Creek beats anything. A bit of exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are plenty of hotels here if
you want to spend a night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting location is a short drive from Winchester, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you hurry you can run this section
in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. This section of Cedar Creek in Virginia is 20 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. If you're a camper

Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike on the Little Passage Trail is always a tremendous adventure. For the duration of the months of summer here at Cedar Creek, high temperatures generally reach the 80's,
and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Cedar Creek are in the 10's. Cedar Creek gets a common amount of annual rain; most of the rain falls all through July, and February is when it's the driest.
