The scenic beauty of Virginia and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. County is 11.5 miles long and is a class I-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. The Route 721 to Byllesby Dam on New River stretch is the only paddling stretch along Chestnut Creek.
