This stretch of Clinch River in Russell County is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. If you're coming from Bristol it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Pucketts Hole to Nash Ford section is one of them.
The natural beauty of Virginia and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, you can easily run it on an afternoon. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.

Much rain falls at Clinch River; July is the wettest month with most rain; February is when it's the driest.
