The average Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. The beautiful scenery of Scott/Russell County and the water flowing gracefully down Clinch River have people coming here. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make     reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The St. Paul to Dungannon section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: At Clinch River through the long summer days highs are in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's. For the duration of the winter highs are commonly in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Clinch River. While staying at Clinch River you could always explore   Buffalo Hollow. Clinch River gets lots of water; during the month of May you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is October.
