The Taylor's Mill to Cedar Bluff stretch of Clinch River in Virginia is 13.5 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Tazewell/ Russell County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so if you're not from around here don't forget     that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: During the days of summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Clinch River, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in   the 60's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 40's with temperatures at Clinch River dipping down into the 20's throughout winter nights. Clinch River is a reasonably wet place mostly with a large amount of rainfall; all through May this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest.
