Highland
county,
Along Route 250 to McDowell section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II-III 3 miles
The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The Along Route 250 to McDowell stretch of Crab Run in Virginia is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. Crab Run doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Along Route 250 to McDowell section is the only one. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end
up sleeping in your car. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots
of good rivers for that around here. The wonderful Highland County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile.
