Virginia whitewater, Craig Creek Craig county, Old Route 311 bridge to New Castle section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-II     7 miles   I've never kayaked this stretch of Craig's Creek, but it is not the ONLY stretch by far!  We spent 10 days in a lovely VRBO.com riverfront vacation rental downstream from New Castle, and kayaked both up and down the river multiple times, even though the area was in the middle of a bad drought.  We will be renting in Roaring Run this year, which is according to the owner kayakable for the 5 miles to where it meets the James River.  There is     a very nice pull out/picnic spot where the two meet, and plenty of room to park.  Take time out to splash around as well.  I've never seen a river this clean before! Says Julie This section of Craig Creek in Virginia is 7 miles long and it is classified   as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The starting location is a short drive from Roanoke, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Craig Creek will make you feel great.
