The average Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Harrisonburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have     a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Lily to North River stretch is one of them. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. The natural beauty of Virginia and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Briefly about the general area: Through the warm days of summer here at Dry River, high temperatures generally get into the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are generally in the 40's, and night lows at Dry River all through the winter usually plunge into the 10's.
