The wonderful Rockingham County scenery and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The average Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty     easy. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The Lily to North River stretch of Dry River in Virginia is 6 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: From a precipitation point of view Dry River is a rather common place; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is January. High temperatures at Dry River all through the summer months are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's.
