The Breaks to Russell Fork stretch of Grassy Creek in Virginia is 2 miles long and is a class IV+ section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Grassy Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Breaks     to Russell Fork section is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. Whitewater paddling here in the Cumberland Plateau Mountains is a great experience. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This is a pretty short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: Lovers Leap is an out of the ordinary thing to see if you're here at Grassy Creek, and a wonderful place to go to nearby is The Notches.
