Road section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III+     4.3 miles   This section of Happy Creek in Warren County is 4.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III+ section. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Winchester, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Warren County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. The average Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Great exercise     and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This is the only paddling section along Happy Creek. Briefly about the general area: Harmony Hollow Orchard is a forest in the neighborhood of Happy Creek that you can go to, and there is a great hiking trail nearby called the Dickey Hill Trail. Happy Creek gets   a common amount of annual precipitation; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest month of the year is January. All year is a great time in the Blue Ridge Mountains if you adore the outdoors. All through the summertime months at Happy Creek temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's; during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's.
