The scenic beauty of Virginia and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whether you're     whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is the only paddling stretch along Happy Creek. This stretch of Happy Creek in Virginia is 4.3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III+ section of whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia are easier than the national norm, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. Briefly about the general area: A wonderful forest near Happy Creek is Harmony Hollow Orchard, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Happy Creek; Dickey Hill Trail is a magnificent local trail. An average amount of rain falls at Happy Creek; the month   of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January meanwhile is the driest month. During the summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Happy Creek, and the nighttime is fairly cooler of course, frequently in the 60's.
