This stretch of Harris Creek in Amherst County is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Amherst County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The average Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable     for beginners. Harris Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Route 130 to James River section is the only one. There are many good hotels to choose from, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Briefly about the general area: Harris Creek is a good place of typical rain; the month of October is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is the month with the least moisture.
