If you're coming from Lynchburg it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The Eastfields to Walker's Creek stretch of Hay's Creek in Rockbridge County is 1.25 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III(V+) section. There's camping available near Hay's Creek. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area
with plenty of rivers for that. There are no other sections to paddle along Hay's Creek than the Eastfields to Walker's Creek section. This is a very short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Lodging is available near the river, but
you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus.
