The Eastfields to Walker's Creek section of Hay's Creek is 1.25 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III(V+) section of whitewater. The put-in is not too far from Lynchburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The scenic beauty of Rockbridge County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Eastfields to Walker's Creek section is the only paddling section along Hay's Creek. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This is
a very short stretch so no need to bring snacks. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere.
No need to look hard for hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river.

the 80's to Hay's Creek. All through the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 60's. Through the wintertime highs are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Hay's Creek are in the 20's. Hay's Creek is a good place of normal precipitation; May is the month that gets the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
