If you are paddling the hazel this is a heads up when taking out at the low water bridge on monument mills road. The property owners there are real not so friendly. They think they own the river itself. Just a heads up. Says Low water bridge in rixeyville

If you've been whitewater rafting
and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very
popular destination. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The natural beauty of Rappahannock/Culpepper County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The SR 603 to Route 522 Bridge stretch is the only paddling stretch along Hughes River and Hazel River. This stretch of Hughes River and Hazel River in Virginia is 9.5 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near.
