The Pony Pasture Park to Reedy Creek stretch of James River in Virginia is 5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. The wonderful unknown County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down James River have people coming here. If you're coming from Richmond it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came.
No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have
reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy.
