The average Virginia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. This section of Jennings Creek in Virginia is 4.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling
rivers. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Jennings Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 614 to James River stretch is the only one. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Roanoke, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. When you're paddling down a Blue Ridge Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nature scenery of Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle.

about the general area: Jennings Creek is a good place of normal rainfall; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is January. Going for a hike on the Cove Mountain Trail is always a great adventure, and you can go for a hike
on the McFalls Ridge Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains. Through the warm months, highs usually are in the 80's at Jennings Creek. Summer night lows dip down to the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are usually in the 40's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Jennings Creek temperatures plunge to the 20's.
