The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This is the only paddling stretch along Laurel Run. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This is a short paddling stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk
your kayak back to put-in a few times. This section of Laurel Run in Rockbridge County is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The starting point is not too far from
Staunton-Waynesboro, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here.

in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Laurel Run are in the 10's. Laurel Run is a wet location that gets a large amount of precipitation; most of the rain falls through July, and December is the month with the least moisture.
