If you're coming from Staunton-Waynesboro it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch of Laurel Run is 1.5 miles long and is a class IV-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to
one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to
put-in a few times. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This is the only paddling section along Laurel Run. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.

a great day at Laurel Run you can take a hike along the Little Peak Trail. While you're here at Laurel Run you can take a hike along the Goshen Pass Trail, and since you're here why not stop at Chambers Hollow. All the water falling down from the sky makes Laurel Run a wet
spot; the month with most of the rain is July, and December on the other hand is the driest. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Laurel Run while overnight lows are mostly in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Laurel Run nighttime low temperatures all through the winter are in the 10's.
