The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This stretch of Little River - North R. Tributary is 3 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river
if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The starting point is not too far from Staunton-Waynesboro, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Since you're on this site you are probably into
whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The natural beauty of Virginia and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. This section is quite short so better bring some good walking shoes. Little River - North R. Tributary doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Hearthstone Dam to Bridge at Camp May Flather section is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: Little River - North R. Tributary gets a normal amount of annual precipitation; July is the wettest month with most rain,
and January is the month with the least moisture. There's tremendous hiking along the Narrow Back Trail; nearby North River Gap is a nice place to go. At Little River - North R. Tributary all through the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. Through the moonlight hours
it's frequently in the 50's. Daytime highs throughout the winter are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Little River - North R. Tributary are in the 10's. The Grooms Ridge Trail offers hiking at its best.
