  The Riner to Copper Valley section of Little River - New R. Tributary is 13 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-IV section of whitewater. If you're coming from Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to
    stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places.
Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so better not forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. The nature scenery of Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Riner to Copper Valley stretch is just one of them.
