  The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Blacksburg-Christiansburg-Radford, as you can see on the road map further down. The scenic beauty of Montgomery/ Floyd County and the water flowing gracefully down Little River - New R. Tributary have people coming here. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that
    a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. The wild scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains is great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Riner to Copper Valley section is just one of many. The Riner to Copper Valley stretch of Little River - New R. Tributary is 13 miles long and it is classified as a class I-IV section by American Whitewater. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places.

during the summer are in the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; after the sun is down all through the winter temperatures at Little River - New R. Tributary descend into the 20's. Little River - New R. Tributary gets a common amount of rainfall; through July this area sees the most rain, and January on the other hand is the driest.
