If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The beautiful scenery of Scott County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd     better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. The Little Stony Falls to Hanging Rock stretch of Little Stony Creek in Virginia is 3 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V+ section. Briefly about the general area: Little Stony Creek is a good location of common rain; March is when you get the most rain here, and October is when it's the driest. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Little   Stony Creek; all through summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Little Stony Creek dip into the 20's.
