Pictures from Little Stony Creek, Virginia: This picture was submitted to me by Lynda Hubbard ( now retired ) of the Clinch Ranger District of the U.S. Forest Service in Wise, Virginia; a few years ago. It is of the upper falls on Little Stony Creek. I have been doing climate research in this area of the great High Knob massif, for some 20 years. This is a high precipitation area on average. It should be understood that the High Knob massif forms a sprawling highcountry area along the Wise-Scott border ( into extreme NE Lee County ), and from base to base represents the widest mountain mass in all of southwestern Virginia.
