The put-in location is a short drive from Charlottesville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. The nature scenery     of Virginia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. The campgrounds here at Lynch River are pretty good. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Lynch River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Shady Grove to North Fork of Rivanna River section is the only one. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Lynch River is a good place of typical precipitation; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while January is mostly the driest month. Summertime   brings highs in the 80's to Lynch River, and the night is quite colder of course, commonly in the 60's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 40's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Lynch River tend to be in the 20's.
