If you're coming from Lynchburg it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the cool fresh water have people coming here. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance
you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. This is an extremely short stretch so no need to bring snacks. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery.

Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people.
