The roadside Route 706 section of Marl Creek is 0.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The natural beauty of Rockbridge County and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the roadside Route 706 stretch is one of them. Getting some good exercise
and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. This is a very short section so no need to bring snacks. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking,
either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
