Virginia whitewater - Mill Creek, Rockbridge County Rockbridge county, Route 42 Wayside to Goshen section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III     7.5 miles   If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The nature scenery of Rockbridge County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. On this section you do get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. The Route 42 Wayside to Goshen section is the only paddling section along Mill Creek. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. Great     exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This section of Mill Creek in Virginia is 7.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: On a tremendous day at Mill Creek you can take a hike along the Old Bridge Trail. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Mill Creek, and the night is slightly chillier of course, mostly in the 50's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Mill Creek. If you're here, you might as well take a look at Panther Gap, and if the weather is perfect,   you can go for a hike along the Gochenour Hunter Access Trail. Mill Creek commonly gets a lot of rain; July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is December.
