There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The beautiful scenery of Grayson County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile.
There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so
if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the sections here are safe for beginners. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Whitewater paddling here in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great experience. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, perfect for a real wilderness adventure.
