This stretch of Newfound River in Virginia is 4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II(III) section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Virginia is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. The Rocketts Mill to US 1 stretch     is the only paddling stretch along Newfound River. The starting location is a short drive from Richmond, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page.
