The Butler Ford Bridge to Route 1 stretch of North Anna River in Hanover County     is 9.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. This is the only paddling section along North Anna River.
