The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of Botetourt County and the water flowing gracefully down North Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Campground to Jennings Creek section of North Creek in Botetourt County is 2.5 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get
to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. The put-in location is a short drive from Roanoke, as you can see on the road map further down. Some people prefer whitewater
rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. This is the only paddling section along North Creek. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over.

Ridge Trail. North Creek is a wet site that gets a lot of rain; most of the rain falls throughout July, and January meanwhile is the driest month. Colon Hollow is next to North Creek and is without doubt a good location to explore, and there are magnificent spots to discover
along the Cove Mountain Trail. Summertime at North Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's with night lows in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 40's, and night lows during the winter for North Creek tend to be in the 20's.
