The starting location is a short drive from Lynchburg, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking,     either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Below Lynchburg Reservoir to Route 640 section is one of them. The campgrounds here at Pedlar River are pretty good. The beautiful scenery of Amherst County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. Briefly about   the general area: All through the warm months here at Pedlar River, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. Through the moonlight hours it's usually in the 60's. All through the winter highs are usually in the 40's with temperatures at Pedlar River dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
