The wonderful Virginia scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. If you're coming from Lynchburg it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often easier than in other states, so keep
in mind that rivers here are less demanding. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains
is a great plus for this river. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This section of Pedlar River in Virginia is 6 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I(II) section of whitewater. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Route 640 to Highway 130 section is one of them.

days, highs regularly are in the 80's at Pedlar River. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Pedlar River are in the 20's. On a great day at Pedlar River you can take a hike along the Cashaw Creek Trail.
