If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The scenic beauty of Fairfax/ Arlington County and the cool fresh water have people coming here. The put-in location is a short drive from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This stretch of Pimmit Run is 0 miles long and has been rated as a class
IV(V) section by American Whitewater. There are nice comfortable hotels here, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is very short so no need to bring snacks. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people
coming here. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well.
Briefly about the general area: The Potomac Gorge is a perfect spot to check out nearby, and if you haven’t been to Glen Echo Park, you should schedule some time for it while you're here. While you're here at Pimmit Run you can take a hike along the Upland Trail; if the weather is delightful, you can go for a hike
along the Swamp Trail. Summer at Pimmit Run comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 60's. Through the winter highs are usually in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Pimmit Run. This river is a wonderful
