There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. When you're paddling down a Cumberland Plateau Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go     ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Virginia tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.
