The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The wonderful Virginia scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This stretch of Quantico Creek in Prince William County is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section
of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more forgiving than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river
system, there are a few others too. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: If the weather is tremendous here at Quantico Creek, you can go for a hike along the Calvin Branch Mine Trail, and if you haven’t been to Prince William Forest Park, you must schedule some time for it
since you're here. From a rain point of view Quantico Creek is a relatively normal place; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and January is when it's the driest. On a nice day at Quantico Creek you can take a hike along the Quantico Falls Trail. Summer
at Quantico Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer night lows drop down to the 60's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Quantico Creek.
