The wonderful Prince William County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. There are some good hotels near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in     nature have a lot of people coming here. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Route 619 to Dumfries section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Little Run Loop will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity; a journey to Prince William Forest Park is recommended. The high level of rainfall makes Quantico Creek - South Branch a reasonably wet place; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain while   January is frequently the driest month. Have a great hiking adventure along the High Meadows Trail.
