A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The campgrounds here at Rapidan River are pretty good. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not     pack your camp stove too. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. The Route 610 to Motts Run section is the only paddling section along Rapidan River. The beautiful scenery of Spotsylvania/ Culpepper County and the water flowing gracefully down Rapidan River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Briefly about the general area: While you're here at Rapidan River you can take a hike along the Jackson Trail.
