This stretch of Rappahannock River is 24 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-II section of whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. The wonderful Virginia scenery and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. There aren’t
any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so don't forget that
quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. The Kellys Ford to Motts Run section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. The campgrounds here at Rappahannock River are pretty good.
