CLASS V+ 1.2 miles
This stretch of Roaring Run in Botetourt County is 1.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. The beautiful scenery of Virginia and the water flowing gracefully down Roaring Run are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often easier than elsewhere, so better not forget that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the
great campgrounds nearby. The put-in is not too far from Roanoke, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is an extremely short stretch so you'll
have to walk back to the start over and over. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is the only paddling stretch along Roaring Run. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful.
