Virginia whitewater - Robinson River, Madison County Madison county, Syria to Locust Dale section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II+     19 miles   this is a fun stretch of whitewater. i have run numerous times and have enjoyed it every time i would recomend it for anyone. it has a few class 2-3 ledges that are lots of fun and uncountable gravel bars and small rock gardens....near the end there is a nice way to end your trip with a swimming hole complete with a rope swing and all!!!! Says Jeremy If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Virginia you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so better not forget that quite a few of the sections here are pretty easy. This     stretch of Robinson River in Madison County is 19 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II+ section. The scenic beauty of Madison County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. There are no other sections to paddle along Robinson River than the Syria to Locust Dale section. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Briefly about the general area:   A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Robinson River; most of the rain falls through May, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Throughout the summertime months at Robinson River temperatures are generally in the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 50's.
