Virginia whitewater - Rose River, Madison County Madison county, Two miles to Robinson River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III     2 miles   This stretch of Rose River is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class III section by American Whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. This is the only paddling stretch along Rose River. The campgrounds here at Rose River     are pretty good. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Virginia are often more forgiving than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less demanding. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. The scenic beauty of Virginia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Briefly about the general area: A normal amount of precipitation falls here at Rose River; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest month is February. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Rose River. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 60's. Highs through the wintertime are typically in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Rose River temperatures   fall to the 20's. While you're here at Rose River you can take a hike along the Cedar Run Trail, and on a wonderful day you can take a hike along the Rose River Trail.
