The Route 653 to Tye River section of Rucker Run in Virginia is 4.3 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Charlottesville it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Rucker Run doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Route 653 to Tye River stretch is the only one. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great attractions for lots of people. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have
to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. You might be into
